Pakistan’s biggest property portal joins hands with Care Foundation to provide education to the underprivileged children
Rabia Ashiq has made history with the help of Care Foundation. Hailing from a humble background, she attended the Care adopted school in Charrar Pind, Lahore. She always excelled in sports and, with the support of her teachers and Care, she competed in several inter-city and inter-school tournaments.
During one of her inter-city games she was approached by trainers from Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), and ever since has traveled all over the world to compete in international sports festivals such as the Grand Prix in Japan, Asian Games in China and recently participated in the Olympics.
Impressed by the foundation’s efforts to support young people like Rabia, Pakistan’s best real estate website, Lamudi.pk has teamed up with Care to help local youth fulfill their dreams. Lamudi intends to help by extensively promoting Care Foundation initiatives through its various channels to help the organization raise substantial funds for setting up more schools. Lamudi employees will also conduct regular mentorship sessions at Care’s schools.
Care Foundation was started in 1988 when it opened its first school in Sheikhupura. Currently, Care has over 240 schools providing high-quality education to approximately 160,000 students. In 1998, it started a partnership with the City District Government of Lahore where it adopts failing government schools. This was a massive success and today Care runs adopted government schools in Punjab and Sindh and plans to enter Balochistan as well.
Lamudi’s partnership with Care is already seeing some great results. The entire Lamudi Pakistan team recently visited a Care adopted school in Faisal Town, Lahore and asked the children to draw their dreams. The children were divided into teams and placed under the leadership of two of Lamudi’s employees each and then had to draw their dreams. It was a successful event where the children were given a direction to persevere and work hard for them to be able to achieve what they each aspire for.
Saad Arshed, Country Director, of Lamudi.pk, states: “Education in Pakistan suffers from a chronic lack of spending which results in approximately 5.1 million primary school age Pakistani children out of school. Lamudi aims to help these children so they have access to high quality education and can live their dreams. Lamudi is proud of this collaboration and urges others as well to donate to this noble cause, especially to the Zakat campaign of Care in this holy month of Ramzan”.
