During the last five years Pakistan’s foreign loans have almost doubled but major portion of these loans could not be utilized for economic development in fact during the same period, Pakistani exports have declined considerably and imports have increased(even Bangladeshi exports are almost twice the Pakistani exports). A lot of overseas Pakistanis are returning back from the Middle East and foreign remittances are likely to decrease in coming months and years moreover, American aid is not coming anymore. From 2008 onward Pakistan’s so called democratic governments have miserably failed in keeping the pace of economic development.
Corrupt and senseless ruling elite, population pressure and lack of expertise among civil servants (because of brain drain from Pakistan) are some of the contributory factors of our economic and social problems. 2018 is election year and it will also put pressure on the economy. Therefore it is expected that rupee value will further decline in coming months.
