KARACHI: The American currency recorded gains against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Friday.
The dollar started the day’s trading at Rs 84.59 for buying, continued its upward march and closed at Rs 84.79 for buying and Rs 84.84 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a loss of 30 paisas.
The euro shed grounds versus the rupee, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 118.62 for buying, depreciated and closed at Rs 118.42 for buying and Rs 118.62 for selling. Therefore, the rupee incurred a gain of 20 paisas. The British currency also recorded losses against the local currency, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 137.50 for buying, depreciated and closed at Rs 136.90 for buying and Rs 137.10 for selling. Thus, the rupee recorded a gain of 60 paisas.
Open Market: The dollar recorded losses versus the rupee, dealers said. The dollar started the day’s trading at Rs 86.20 for buying, depreciated and closed at Rs 86.05 for buying and Rs 86.15 for selling. The euro lost strength versus the rupee, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 120.55 for buying, depreciated and closed at Rs 119.10 for buying and Rs 119.60 for selling. Similarly, the pound sterling also recorded losses versus the rupee, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 139.20 for buying, recorded losses and closed at Rs 137.80 for buying and Rs 138.30 for selling.
